Canon EOS Error Codes and How to Fix Them?

Err 01

Description: The communication between the camera and the lens is faulty.

Description: The camera cannot access the memory card.

Solution: Remove and re-install the memory card. If the problem persists, format the card. If you still don’t get a solution, replace the memory card.

Description: There are too many folders on the memory card.

Solution: Replace the memory card with a Compact Flash (CF) memory card.

Err 04

Description: Cannot save the images because the card is full.

Solution: Erase unnecessary images on the memory card. In the case of unsatisfactory results, try formatting the card. If you still don’t get a solution, replace the memory card.

Err 05

Description: The built-in flash cannot be raised.

Solution: Turn off the power switch and then turn it on.

Description: Sensor cleaning could not be performed.

Err 10

Description: A malfunction with the files on the memory card has been detected.

Err 20

Description: A malfunction with the mechanical mechanism has been detected.

Description: A malfunction with the shutter has been detected.

Description: A malfunction with the power source has been detected.

Err 50

Description: A malfunction related to the electric control has been detected.

Err 70

Description: A malfunction with the images has been detected.

Err 80

Description: A malfunction with the electric control or images has been detected.

The solution for Err 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 70 and 80: Turn off the power, remove and re-install the battery and then turn the power on.

Err 60

Description: An error preventing shooting occurred. The lens movement may be obstructed.

Err 99

Description: System malfunction

Solution: Turn off the power and re-install the battery. Then turn on the power and gently clean the electrical contacts on the camera and lens using a clean and dry cloth.
